For the past couple of weeks, some of us moderators of the subreddit r/Silksong, have been working on an exciting project. We’ve created a lemmy instance for fans of indie games. If I subscribe 2 or 3 large coms, all the more quiet coms that I want to hear from get wiped out from the first pages of the feed...is there a way to recover them, by having like an upvote (increase weight by +1) subscribe button in an already subscribed com (upsubscribe, lol)...or maybe a multi? What do you use in these cases?

I've got some standing orders of 1 or 2 euros every month for bigger projects like grapheneos and kde. And for small apps that I actively use, I try to donate 5 or 10 euros now and then. It's not much but I believe if everyone is doing their part we succeed in the long run

There have been a couple of posts somewhat recently asking what can be done to attract new users to the Fediverse. My answer was basically "make it something new people would want to see and stick around for". The crux of that was basically less news, less politics, less rage and more, well, anything else.

Where does this whole controversy stand right now? Any of you went back to using it? If not, what are the alternatives? I'm pretty dependent on it but in no way informed enough to analyse this on my own

I've been using Insomnia, but it seems they've enshittified. I started it up after an upgrade and found that Environments are now paywalled/behind an account. Is there a true open-source alternative to Postman/Insomnia anyone recommends?

As far as I know, the software used by Fediverse, a decentralized social networking site, makes information public due to its decentralized nature, and as a result, it's often possible to obtain feeds of the latest information via RSS.

Is it good? Are there any better alternatives?

On join-lemmy.org, the project is described as "A forum and link aggregator for the Fediverse". In the previous post, multiple people mentioned that this is not a good description. However I have a hard time coming up with anything better.

There seems to be a serious lack of a Discord equivalent fediverse platform unlike other social media alternatives. Most of the closest options are either too overwhelming in UI/UX for majority of people coming from Discord, missing deal-breaking features like video calling or are not federated.

What app/software do you use to track your finances? I currently use money wallet from f-droid (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.oriondev.moneywallet/) but it's no longer mantained (4 years) and I think it's time to switch. Thanks!

When people are told about Lemmy and look for it in a search engine, join-lemmy.org is one of the first pages that comes up. Here they should be able to find out what Lemmy is, and be able to register an account to start posting.

Is posting from #Mastodon to a #Lemmy community a good idea or will this just confuse everyone?

What's the etiquette for posting #mastodon or other federated posts on some of the other reddit-analogues? From what I see you can just mention a #piefed or #lemmy group in a post and it will create a post in that group.But is that actually something the users of those platforms want?

I'm looking to move to a new Mastodon instance, away from Mastodon.social. I don't have any problems with .social, but I kinda want to keep things decentralized in the Fediverse, and I want to start fresh with a new account regardless.

Framasoft is based in France, and since we know how France is currently about GrapheneOS. It is not the best location for PeerTube and other open source projects to be in currently. So a move could be in order or at least decentralizing the development?
