Basically, I'd like to be able to get SMS messages from my android phone sent to my Linux laptop, primarily for getting 2FA codes, since that's the way pretty much every business-type site out there insists on doing it.

I used to use feeder but stopped reading news for a while. With feeder, I have to know each feed and add it myself. This is good but I don't see new or other stuff. I think I'd like to have both, everything and only my stuff. Or something where I can opt out instead of opt in.

How would I build a Python bot that automatically reposts or highlights statistically outlier posts from my Lemmy subscriptions—like anything more than one standard deviation above the average? I’m looking for a general approach covering data retrieval from the Lemmy API, outlier detection, and reposting mechanics.

My university is pushing for us to ensure that all our documents are accessibility-friendly. I write all my documents in LaTeX and have been taking the steps and measures to ensure that everything I generate is tagged, has alt text, and colour-blind-friendly.

I stopped using piefed a week ago when I got a message some random quack banned my account in some community I had never engaged with but I could not figure out who did it or where it happened. Any lack of modlog accountability for mods and admin with full transparency are an absolute no-go for me.

There is perennial discussion about what fediverse servers (Lemmy or otherwise) to recommend to new users. I have a proposal, perhaps not very original but I haven't seen it made often.

Currently, "bold" and "italic" markup doesn't actually output bold and italic text (semantically); instead, it outputs strongly emphasized () and emphasized () text. This is completely wrong and semantic markup abuse, since we can't guarantee that bold text will only be used for strong importance or that italic text will only be used for emphasis. HTML output for this markup should be changed to general-purpose elements (i.e. *%text%* (_%text%_) should be %text%, not %text%, and **%text%** (__%text%__) should be %text%, not %text%).
