I remember signing up for the newsletter for this a while ago. They've come a good way since then, and I appreciate how much thought and planning they've put into this. There's value to having a clear road map of how they intend to put it all together.

Safebox: Open-source framework for managing self-hosted apps (Beta)

Community iconc/opensourceby
drebora@lemmy.ml

Hi, my family and I’ve been working on Safebox, an open-source framework that helps you install, manage, and access self-hosted applications such as Home Assistant, Nextcloud, and Jellyfin ect. Safebox runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows (supporting both x86 and ARM64 architectures, even Raspberry Pi, Banana Pi hardwares also tested). It manages domain and subdomain setup, Let's Encrypt certificates, DNS configuration, and reverse proxy (nginx). It also includes a WireGuard-based remote access feature and a geo-redundant backup system (currently in development). The project is in beta, and we’re looking for people interested in testing and sharing feedback. All information about Safebox and beta testing can be found in our Discord channel. If you’d like to try it out, you can start it with Docker:

Italic and bold markup should output italic and bold text, not emphasized and strongly emphasized text

Community iconc/lemmyby
onehundredsixtynine@sh.itjust.works

Currently, "bold" and "italic" markup doesn't actually output bold and italic text (semantically); instead, it outputs strongly emphasized () and emphasized () text. This is completely wrong and semantic markup abuse, since we can't guarantee that bold text will only be used for strong importance or that italic text will only be used for emphasis. HTML output for this markup should be changed to general-purpose elements (i.e. *%text%* (_%text%_) should be %text%, not %text%, and **%text%** (__%text%__) should be %text%, not %text%).
