As far as I know, the software used by Fediverse, a decentralized social networking site, makes information public due to its decentralized nature, and as a result, it's often possible to obtain feeds of the latest information via RSS.

I'm looking for android, but I suppose iOS welcome for those with iPhones.

Brave is essentially just Chrome with an adblocker, a bunch of bloatware, and a bunch of controversies.

Hey all! I live in a housing cooperative in the USA and I've recently been elected to the board to help manage things for the housing community. I would like to modernize where possible, and wean ourselves away from corporate tools in an effort to increase the privacy of my fellow residents and provide resilience against corporate enshittification and our dangerously hostile federal government.

Hello! I've recently been testing out PieFed (I followed the Docker install instructions), it's actually working quite well... However, I'm a bit of a newbie system administrator, I was wondering if there was a guide or documentation available on how to back up/restore a PieFed instance installed this way? Being able to back up and restore the instance is the one stumbling block I need to get past in order to self host PieFed, so I would certainly appreciate any help that people can provide 😀 Thanks!

It would be nice if there was a way to favorite a community so that when you open the Communities tab, your favorites are listed at the top similar to how Voyager does it.

I'm looking to move to a new Mastodon instance, away from Mastodon.social. I don't have any problems with .social, but I kinda want to keep things decentralized in the Fediverse, and I want to start fresh with a new account regardless.

Framasoft is based in France, and since we know how France is currently about GrapheneOS. It is not the best location for PeerTube and other open source projects to be in currently. So a move could be in order or at least decentralizing the development?

Is there any way for users to see their own content that got deleted by a mod? I had one deleted, but have no clue what it was so no sure what I did wrong - all they did was cite a rule number with no explanation. I get taking it down for everyone else if it was a violation, but it’d be a lot easier to not do it again if at least I could see it.

If I subscribe 2 or 3 large coms, all the more quiet coms that I want to hear from get wiped out from the first pages of the feed...is there a way to recover them, by having like an upvote (increase weight by +1) subscribe button in an already subscribed com (upsubscribe, lol)...or maybe a multi? What do you use in these cases?

If it gets big, there will be a lot more moderation and the 3 letter organisations wanting to censor certain things. But right now, it feels like a small prestine community and I love it

So, when creating a post with tags on a Piefed instance (feddit.fr), I noticed that the results shown in Mastodon by searching the tags are not always the same: some posts are not shown with an excerpt in Mastodon, when some others do have an excerpt (along with a Read More link). I would like to know how can one ensure that the excerpt appears, because a blank message with only a link is not great to Mastodon viewers, especially when the posts are short fictions.

A really useful setting to have if there was an option where post with certain flairs gets deleted automatically after a fixed period of time since the post have been created.

If you go to https://piefed.social/search you'll see two new fields.

I've made it so that when someone deletes their own post it is still viewable, including the comments. The post author and body will NOT be visible. Deleted posts will not show up in communities, search results, etc just as before - you need the URL of the post to get to it. Bookmark a deleted post within 7 days or it will be deleted for real.

What's the etiquette for posting #mastodon or other federated posts on some of the other reddit-analogues? From what I see you can just mention a #piefed or #lemmy group in a post and it will create a post in that group.But is that actually something the users of those platforms want?

I successfully sideloaded F-Droid Classic to my Fire TV Stick. Original F-Droid was repeatedly crashing so I went with F-Droid Classic.

Hello all :) I have spent most of today trying to reply to my own comment by making my own AP implementation using node.js.

I would like to create detailed plans of my house. Not only the floorplan, but also wall thickness, windows, doors, water and electricity lines, materials,... Best case would be both 2D plans and 3D views (maybe with highlighting for water, electricity etc).

I've been using Insomnia, but it seems they've enshittified. I started it up after an upgrade and found that Environments are now paywalled/behind an account. Is there a true open-source alternative to Postman/Insomnia anyone recommends?
