I saw today that they changed a lot about UI in the timeline. The vote buttons are at bottom instead of on the right side. Images are not tiny thumbnails anymore. Even, the thumbnails feel better somehow. I love all these changes.
The only small nitpick I have is that, the vote buttons are a little small, it feels more so in the main post. And a very unreasonable complaint, that I don't think need to be addressed, would be, the vote buttons are too generic. Would love a little more style and better colour contrast.

I agree the voting buttons have become hard to find and hard to click on. More work needed there.

Though my nitpick is that I'll miss seeing the number of downvotes, especially when visiting !unpopularopinion@lemmy.world
Yes I sometimes miss it too. On a device with a mouse you can hover over the score and two numbers will appear as a tooltip. The numbers are upvotes and downvotes.
Maybe the compressed form with only one number could be used on mobile and on tablets and larger show both numbers.
I'll continue to experiment with the voting elements.
Any chance we could get a proper pwa I don't like seeing the top bar I prefer the app feel more so
