Go look in any Cleveland community you can find. You'll find me essentially poking it with a stick.
C'mon......be active........
Nope. Just me.
Even when Street Pass existed on DS, a system that sold some absurd amount like 160 million units, I never once got a street pass interaction.
And now you think a realworld implementation of street pass for Lemmy, a service with 60k users, is going to be anything besides you wondering where everyone is???
I carried a ds through the extent of highschool that it existed for, and 2 3ds's through post secondary. those things were loaded every day with a line up of little people waiting to say hi I'm so and so and some little catch phrase.
It was a sort of social space Nintendo ran on the 3DS and Wii U. Kind of combination chat room and message board with a space where Miis (Nintendo avatars) could "hang out". It could also be used to send messages though games, like you could leave a message as a sort of note in Mario Maker or Splatoon. I thought it was kind of cool, tbh.
not sure if I'm too old, too young or too poor
It was shut down in......no. 2017 was not 7 years ago. No.
we can go further, somethingsomething StreetPass
Fediverse streetpass would go craaaaazy
Thanks for the reminder, there's a fake-it-till-you-make-it already, as a Firefox extension.

There's the pretendo network, which continues support for the 3ds. Haven't used it myself, but I think the miiverse network is also supported by them.
So at least you can still use miiverse to some extent, though probably with way fewer people.
For anyone not familiar with the Miiverse, what's attractive about it over existing clients?
Being able to open a thread and pick up OP's avatar off the ground and watch his little legs kick.
Likes/upvotes are “Yeah!”s and there are miis associated with each post
Mostly nostalgia, and to be honnest, how awesome would this be!!!
Twitter was never the town square of the Internet. The Miiverse was.
Um...not sure if I'm too old, too young or too poor, but what is the Miiverse?

It would be way too cool if the Wii homebrew scene implemented ActivityPub in the original miiverse. I might just dust of my Wii for that.
Thirdroom vr / avatar space plus Fediverse mail?
Yeah!
